The existing building was built at the corner between two two-story residential buildings. It consists of a basement, a ground floor and an attic. Due to the slope of the terrain, both basement and ground floor have direct entrances from the street.
The Center for Integrative Medicine contains a medical practice, two homeopathic medicine practices, a space for medical fitness and rooms for education, management and administration.
All floors are remodelled. The usable area is increased by the extension, but the overall height of the building is still limited by the existing gabled windows of the two neighbouring buildings.
The street view is redesigned to appear calm and express the function of the building as well as maintain the continuity of the street views of the neighbouring buildings.
The building is covered with three inward-sloping pitched roofs. Different pitches of the roof surfaces create space for vertical skylights, through which the light is channelled deep into the interior of the building.
Energetic refurbishment is included in the project.
